History
VIPO a. s. was established in 1974 as ÚRKOP, a specialized research institute for the leather and footwear industry.
VIPO a. s. was established in 1974 as ÚRKOP, a specialized research institute for the leather and footwear industry. In 1986, it became an independent economic entity, and in 1989, it was renamed VIPKP. After 1989, VIPKP focused on four key areas: footwear production, chemical and tanning research, machinery and control system development, and testing and standardization services.
In 1992, VIPKP transformed into VIPO a. s., gradually shifting its focus towards manufacturing equipment for the tire industry and rubber chemistry. In 2003, the company discontinued footwear production and redirected its research towards polymers from renewable resources. Over time, the workforce decreased from 450 employees to approximately 100.
